Last month I discovered I had a little bit of Comirnaty sample left in the bottom of a vial. It had mostly been in a fridge, mostly. Anyway I was expecting to see the usual patterns of the sample drying out. However it was clear that this liquid was different. In fact ironically, it grew mostly crystals which looked a lot like salt. And there were a few black squares - these did not look like cholesterol however…
So since this time I have mixed this sample with a dental anaesthetic and a monoclonal antibody and the results have been … interesting. I have already shared a few of the photos in one of my recent posts. Here are some more. All darkfield with magnification 200 to 400x.
IMO the dots are nanoparticles and the spheres are pre-dominantly from the dental anaesthetic. The ribbons that are visible appear to have arisen between large bubbles of different liquids.
A few close ups:
Mixing the three medications appears to be revive the functionality of the sample. I think that there obviously needs to be the necessary materials, an instruction set and a building process and my guess would be DNA template, hydrogel, magnetic microbubbles and nanoparticles, as starters… any other suggestions gratefully received.
In answer to the obvious comment that the glowing dots are too small to be seen with an optical microscope please see Zhang et al and you will find that these small nanoparticles appear larger under darkfield due to their interaction with the illumination. In fact as you will see in this video they look and behave in a very familiar fashion…
A shout out to Matt J.O.A.B and Karl C who have both been focusing on nanoparticles under dark field this week and moved the discussion considerably…

I am a dentist and I would love to know which anesthesia had the contamination?
We have four options in our office. Prilocaine, Lidocaine, Septocaine and mepivacaine. I would think the ones without epinephrine might be ok?
Look forward to more research! I don’t want to inject my patients with this stuff!
So what exactly should we ask for if we HAVE to have dental surgery? My daughter has sideways impacted wisdom teeth. What do I ask for?!!
