On Morgellons patients, the dark metallic hexagons frequently could be found embedded in the gelatinous tip of the hair root, which appeared to be surrounded by biofilm compared with the hair roots of normal patients. From that biofilm at the base, Morgellons fibers would be growing aimed deeper into the dermis.
